JOSEPH HENRY

John Loose, stemming from electrical engineering, mixes his passion for craft beer with science. Henry is named after Joseph Henry, the scientist who discovered and defined the scientific unit of inductance in electromagnetism, a henry. Joseph discovered a principle that when making an electromagnet using just two electrodes attached to a battery, it is best to wind several coils of wire in parallel, but when using a set-up with multiple batteries, there should be only one single long coil. Using his newly developed electromagnetic principle, in 1831, Henry created one of the first machines to use electromagnetism for motion. Because of Joseph, this principle helped make the telegraph possible.
